Every amateur player's sports dream is a chance to compete against the pros. Thanks to IGN Live and PokerStars.com., amateur poker players will have the opportunity to compete against the big boys for a free trip to the Bahamas.
PokerStars.com will feature eight different sit-n-go hands Saturday, Oct. 22, and another seven on Sunday, Oct. 23. Though sit-n-go hands are usually ten player tournaments where the top three finishers win the cash, only the winners of each hand will have the opportunity to play in the final table on that respective day.
On the 22nd, the seven prior winners will go up against Greg Raymer, the $5 million first prize winner at the 2004 World Series of Poker. On Sunday, Wil Wheaton will anchor the final table against that day's winners. Wheaton is a well-known poker player who also does voice over on many video games, including Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas.
The two players that emerge victorious at the two final tables are automatic entries into PokerStars' Caribbean Adventure, a 2006 World Poker Tour event at the Atlantis Resort in January.
For those who just want to observe, the PokerStars saloon girls will reportedly be on hand to liven things up as they provide fans with gifts. As part of the venture, there will also be plenty of computers available for fans to explore the ING Live site.
Interested parties may purchase discount tickets online for $15 at www.ignlive.com. Advanced online purchases include a free 21-day trial to the GameFly videogame rental service. Tickets the day of the event will be $25.
