In yet another sign of the emergence of the poker as a sporting activity, 2K Sports announced today the creation of the World Poker Tour® video game.

Soon to be available in retail stores across the country, the game will offer real players and story aspects straight out of the popular television series, the World Poker Tour. The video game may be played on the Microsoft Xbox® video game system, the Sony PlayStation® 2 game system, and the Nintendo Game Boy® Advance.

Game players are treated to the commentary by World Poker Tour hosts Mike Sexton and Vince Van Patten as they compete against numerous, high profile, virtual pros. Gamesters can sit at the table with such stars as Antonio "the Magician" Esfandiari, Michael "The Grinder" Mizrachi and Phil "Unabomber" Laak. World Poker Tour even gives game players a chance to talk live via the Xbox Live® online game service as well as practice their poker faces with the EyeToy(TM) USB Camera (for PlayStation® 2).

Reportedly, the World Poker Tour® video game features six Tour-exclusive casinos based upon real-world locations that are deemed to be 100% accurate. 2K Sports' spokespersons call the World Poker Tour.
